Hi, to any scrapbook friends that might stop by. I actually made a goal in Jan. to complete min. of 10 layouts. Really need to get my mojo back. I have lot's of photos to catch up on. I also need to use my stash. I keep buying new fun products but continue hoarding my faves. By the time I break it out it's old to everyone else. I know crazy right. Anyhoo, here are my Jan. layouts.

New Year 2012

Happy New Year!!!
Wow! So here we are in a new year, ten days in and I already failed at making resolutions, procrastinating, not working out daily blah blah blah. So guess what. NOT DOING IT!!!
I decided I need re"soul"lutions instead. I'm digging deep this year to make some new habits, changes, and soul stirring achievements in 2012. Sure I'm on the band wagon like most of us with projects slotted for the new year to help us do better in certain areas especially documenting our lives and self growth. I won't bore you with all that, but I will say I'm up for it and will share with the blog world when appropriate.
Soooo I'll be back to share my creative experiences in 2012....

Backpack/laptop/purse min album

Soooo I did some scrapbooking this week. One of the projects was a cute backpack mini album. I used this tutorial here. My album is bigger than the tutorials.I wanted to use 4x6 photos instead of wallet size photos.I think it looks more like a purse but, I was going for a laptop bag. I will be probably give as a gift so there are no photos in it yet. I used some older My Minds Eye papers from my stash. I like how it turned out. Here are a few pics of my lil backpack/laptop/purse mini.

Okay it only took me 3 months but, I actually finished a few scrapbook pages. Woohoo!

Colorful Creations Blog

Today I'm sharing some my favorite things. One of my most favorite things about paper crafting is that you can take a few products and create so many different projects. Another favorite thing about paper crafting is crafting green. I like to include recycled items as part of my project whenever possible.

So I have created this Mini book to share with you today. Using many of my favorite scrapbooking supplies.

My challenge for you is to create a project, card, layout, or mini book etc using the supplies I used to create my mini book.

I selected a group of supplies and let the creativity flow. I created this mini book with a friend theme to give as a gift.

Colorful Creations is celebrating all month. Each week they have awesome challenges and prizes. Here is one of the make n' takes I submitted for week #2.

explosion box- This was fun to make. I added a few pocket with mini cards for journaling, trimmed edges with a few different border punches. made flowers with big border punch and used circles from punches as polka dots on box top. I will definitely be making more of theses. You can check out the super tutorial here at Colorful Creations. I'll be sharing more projects all week.

Hola!
I'm so happy the seasons have changed. I feel better just because. I know crazy but the winter months are sooooooo loooooooong. Anyhoo lovin SPRING!!!
I'm gettin my groove back. I'm feeling creative. I have returned to my scrappy happy place.

I participated in Spring Fling crop at Colorful Creations lot's of fun. I even won a 1 hour layout contest and a door prize woohoo!

wk# 3 52 week Thursday challenge layout

This week I am still in the process of putting into place new goals for the new year. Along with most of the world my goals include changing things up like my diet, my finances, my wardrobe, my craft space etc. Usually when I get into change mode a lot can be resolved with a trip to the fabric store. I love how a new pillow or a dress in a cool new fabric can give you a whole new look!

The challenge for week three is all about using the fabric in your picture to inspire your new layout. In my layout I found a printed pattern paper that matched the fabric on my sister-in-laws blouse perfectly.I chose to accent my pictures by using the colors in her blouse in the embellishments as well.
By simply matching the fabric in my picture to the pattern in my background, it gave me a new direction for my layout.
I love how it turned out!

Well here's the thing I see so many layouts that are so beautiful because they are loaded up with... yep you guessed it flowers. I tend to pull back from using too many flowers (cough/ hoarder) but on this page, I stacked them, and added pebbles and bling. I found it easier to just grab a bunch of colors and go to town. I used 16+ on my layout... woot! I'm excited to just let go and be creative.

It's such a good feeling to arrive at something new. New Year, new promises, new fortune, new opportunity, new resolutions, new friends, new challenges. There are so many New Years challenges especially in our scrappy world.

How about sharing whatever fun new way you have chosen to start your scrappy New year!

My challenge for 52 week Thursday challenge is do something new. There is always so much new info in the scrapbook world. A challenge that introduces us to something new each week is a great way to keep it new. New trends, colors, techniques, products, ideas- 52 weeks of learning something new.

I have started my New Year by scrapping my word (or words) for 2011. I chose the word CREATE. This year I plan to create everyday. My new statement is "create the life I want". I hope you join me each week as we share a fun new way to get scrappy!
I used the beautiful My minds Eye Lost and Found collection and their life stories paper stack. Love all the bling mixed with the kraft paper.

Growing in Unity Day 5

OMG!!!!!! It's New Year's Eve! Resolutions swirling, thoughts of days past. I always feel anxiety on New Year's Day. Today I just need to calm down. I'm going to keep it light with a few simple cards.
One of the things I try to do is not waste, by that I mean I use every piece of scrapbook paper that comes in my stash to the fullest extent. I love using my Unity stamps paired with scraps from my stash to make use of all my paper bits. I send cards to OWH ( Operation Write Home) and, many that I send are made with Unity stamps. Here are a few going out soon.

Hello all. Yes I'm still alive. I haven't done much scrapping lately but I do have a few pages done to share. If you hadn't heard I had the honor of coordinating the first Haunted House Fundraiser at the Old Jail in my town. It was a fun 3 weeks and happily fulfilled my Halloween dreams. First a MiniVSBN on Oct23 and the Main Event on Nov 5&6 the theme for both events is

ON CLOUD NINE

History= For some reason, the number 9 has always been considered by mathematicians to have some super power.
Some say it goes back to the Holy Trinity since 3 x 3 = 9. And later, in Victorian times, a person who was all dressed up was said to be "dressed to the nines."

So what does this have to do with clouds?

It was believed that clouds existed on a successful level of layers, and the ultimate high layer was 9.

So anyone who is suddenly super happy was said to be soaring in the clouds and naturally the level of the cloud they were assumed to be on was the highest...level 9.

Today another way of saying your are very happy and even in some cases, in love, is to say that you are on cloud 9.

We are going to explore everything that puts YOU on Cloud 9 for this VSBN!

This summer I did a set of baby shower invites for a friend of my sister in California. I first made three card for her to choose from. The result was my version of a shabby chic boys shower invite. Once she chose two of the three, I made ten of each. I did lots of layering, embossing, and a little inking. I have to say duplicating theses twenty cards was harder than I thought. I was very excited to finish and get them mailed.

I made a few cards to send Grandma Mac. She is my husband grandmother, she is in her eighties and even with her poor health, she is still thinking of others. She requested some get well and sympathy cards. I love sending her cards , because I know she really appreciates them.

I'm not able to list supplies because I usually make cards from my scrapbook extras and all of these papers were pulled together from my bin. I do like how the turned out, quick and simple.

I while back I made a Thimble necklace. I was hanging out on Scrapgal and they showed a link to this super cute necklace. I found a thimble in my stash and just had to make one. The original idea and tutorial you can find here or here if u don't want to make one yourself. I loved this idea and will probably make more just for fun! Coffee Cozy mini albums

I love the idea of recycling so, I couldn't wait to make more of these. I don't even drink coffee but made a few trips just to get my hands on some of these coffee sleeves.I've seen plenty different ideas and thought it was a fun idea! I made gifts for Father's day. I made three albums for family members. I used sticker sheets from Bo Bunny,paper from my scrap bin,did some machine stitching, lots of bit and pieces and coffee cozy's for these mini's. I stretched the sticker sheet by using the neg. of the stickers as more embellishment. Each page is a pocket has journal tags made with the sticker neg also. You can add pics and journal even some goodies for dad. Pics show each books five pages front and back. tfl.

I participated in a couple crops and several challenges. I love challenges because they push me out of my comfort zone. They help me to try new things, and learn new techniques. I have been visiting Scrapgal and Serendipity(closing June,28:()scrapbook sites and having lots of fun. Thought i would share a couple projects I did during the month of May. This project is a challenge from Serendipity Scrapbooks crop to make a vacation inspired frame. I took an unfinished frame and decided to make it into a mini album. There are accordion photo pages held by a recycled rope and lots of embelli's from my stash. The door sign, paisley mini, and star banner are all items done for challenges at Scrapgal site.Tfl.

Amazingly fun and extremely kind is how I would describe this person! Last Wednesday I did my weekly jaunt( 45 min. from my house) to Archiver's husband in tow. While I was standing in line I noticed a sales associate and a customer excitedly talking about the customer's jewelry. I had noticed already that she was wearing a fun looking peace sign pair, but she turned and was showing the matching necklace also. Well, I perked up and when she went to pull out a business card I asked for one too. Yeah I know, normally I would have minded my own business, but she sounded so excited about her jewelry I was all ears. She didn't mind at all. We all burst into excited conversation. I have never seen such a cool Up-cycled use for pop can's. As I am telling her this she took off her necklace and gave it to me. Yep she was so sweet she gave it to me at no charge(FREE) the necklace right off her neck! I was so surprised! Seriously I was stoked it's made from an Orange crush can, anyone who knows me knows how I love the color orange. I was even wearing an orange top. Turns out she is right around the corner from me and her jewelry is featured right in my town. She also teaches jewelry classes, I will most definitely be signing up for. The most amazingly fun and extremely kind person I've ever met. Her name is Jazzy Steel. she is the creator of Jewels by Jazzy. Finally got some mojo going. I participated in Scrapgals crop over this past weekend. It was fun but I still didn't get as much done as I would have liked. I'm sharing some of the cards I made. I struggle with cards but I'm hoping if I will get better doing them more. I bought the new May/June issue of Paper Crafts magazine I copied a couple including one (the clouds) right off the cover by Stephanie Halinski. The card with the tag is from page 25 by Kim Kesti. The card with the BG paper and rose stamp was inspired by SC. I also used a Cosmo Cricket stamp set I bought a while ago( mini bus)with scraps from a layout. Not bad. But I really need to work on my card skills!!!!TFL!!!

Well I know I'M A LITTLE BEHIND on blogging. I'm trying to do better. Today I am sharing a project I finished in April. I love to sew and I love to create. I am also loving being Green. Recycling for me started way back(anyone Remember the old "Trash to Treasure show") yeah that was one of my favorite craft shows. So being Green and I go way back. One of my favorite things to do is revamp clothing. I never throw clothing away, if I can't share it with someone I can usually come up with a way to revamp an item to be new and useful. So speaking of, this project started out as a pair of Hip Hop jeans my son wore in the 90's. When he graduated he had lots of clothes he no longer wanted. Well I just boxed them up for later. I open that box recently and decided to do something creative with some of the denim jeans. Here is my revamped Fubu ,remember Fubu now FB (http://www.fblegacy.com/). Let's call this my Vintage Fubu bag...TAm
